Add another coaching honor to the already miles-long list for Xavier Prep athletic director and golf coach Sr. Lynn Winsor.
Winsor, who has led the Gators to 34 state titles, including their sixth in a row in the fall of 2016, has been named the National Golf Coach of the Year for 2016-17 by the American Family Insurance group, in association with the USA Today newspaper.

She arrived at Xavier in 1974 and won her first title in 1980. She has coached many outstanding golfers, some who have gone on to the collegiate and professional ranks.
“As I begin my 43rd year in coaching, I attribute the success to the great golfers and assistant coaches that have made the Xavier team what it is,’’ Winsor said on Tuesday (Jan. 20).
Winsor is a member of the National High School Coaches Association’s Hall of Fame and was selected as that organization’s Coach of the Year twice.
Led by Winsor and co-head coach Tui Selvaratnam, the Gators are expected to challenge for their seventh straight title and 35th overall crown later this year.
