Xavier runners 3rd in Asics Invitational

Xavier Prep’s cross-country team found the Asics Clovis Invitational race course in Fresno, Calif., to its liking with a third-place finish in the Girls Championship Division on Saturday (Oct. 6).

The Gators had 183 points, trailing winner Great Oak of Temecula, Calif. (84) and St. Francis of Sacramento (166).

The Xavier runners and their results in the 5,000-meter event:

Junior Mia Olsen, 23rd (out of 158), 18:25.9; sophomore Jamie Stelnik, 30th at 18:38.4; sophomore Sammy Braun, 42nd at 18:59.3; senior Karina Hawkins, 44th at 19:00.3; senior Helen Innes, 78th at 19:32.8; senior Karli Baker, 100th at 19:53.4, and senior Karina Smith, 121st at 20:14.4.

Xavier’s next race will be Friday (Oct. 12) at the Titan Invitational at Crossroads Park in Gilbert.
