Macioce, golfers strong vs. Salpointe

The XCP golf team had a bit of bus trouble on the way to Tucson, but managed to arrive in time and took care of business on Tuesday (Oct. 21) in the annual “Catholic Smackdown’’ with Tucson Salpointe Catholic at Tucson Country Club.
Xavier took a 146-172 victory in the team category.
XCP senior Ariana Macioce took medalist honors with a two-under-par 35 for nine holes.
As part of the annual rivalry, the two teams met for dinner at the country club. Xavier hosted the event last year and will do so again in 2015.
The Salpointe match was Xavier’s last of the regular season and the Gators will attempt to claim the school’s 32nd state title at the state tournament Nov. 6 and 7 at the Aguila Golf Course in Laveen.
