Xavier came up with another strong finish at the Division I
state cross-country meet on Saturday (Nov. 8) at the Cave Creek Golf Course in
north Phoenix, and it took a near-record-setting performance from Phoenix
Desert Vista to keep the Gators from winning it all.
Xavier had five runners in the top 25 and finished second
with 83 points.
The Gators’ top finisher was senior Shannon Molvin, who was
ninth with a time of 19:20.

Junior Jane Miller, 10th (19:22); senior Sierra
Brown, 19th (20:00); junior Shannan Higgins, 22nd
(22:04); junior Tessa Weiss, 23rd (20:05); freshman Caroline
McClelland, 25th (20:14); and sophomore Sarah Carter, 54th
(21:15).
Xavier will wrap up its season on Nov. 22 with the Nike
Cross Nationals Southwest Regional at the Arizona Grande Sports World complex
in Casa Grande.
