Xavier soccer gets state tourney No. 2 seed

The real soccer season begins now for Xavier Prep.
The 2015 Division I state tournament rankings/pairings were released on Friday (Jan. 30) by the Arizona Interscholastic Association, and the Gators are the No. 2 seed behind top seed Scottsdale Desert Mountain.
Xavier’s most recent title came in 2013 under long-time coach Barb Chura.
In the opening round on Tuesday (Feb. 3), the Gators will play host to No. 15 Chandler at 7 p.m. as part of a double-header. No. 10 Surprise Willow Canyon will meet No. 7 Tempe Corona del Sol at 5 p.m. at XCP.
Of Xavier’s 16 victories (16-1-1), nine are by shutout. The Gators’ top scorer is senior Tessa Zaccagnio, who has produced a goal in just about every game this season.
