DON KETCHUM is a native of Phoenix. He was a sportswriter for The Arizona Republic/The Phoenix Gazette for nearly four decades. He covered high school sports on several occasions as well as the Arizona Diamondbacks, Arizona Cardinals and Arizona State sports. From 2008-14, he was a staff writer for AIA365.com, the web site of the Arizona Interscholastic Association.

XCP's Buness earns Wendy's Heisman designation



Xavier senior badminton and lacrosse player Areta Buness has been selected as the school’s Wendy’s High School Heisman Award winner.
Buness, who helped the Gators win the 2014 badminton team championship, is one of 20 state finalists from Arizona (10 girls, 10 boys). She received a Wendy’s High School Heisman patch and a Wendy’s gift card.
Candidates are nominated and selected on the basis of their achievements on the field, in the classroom and in the community.
