Lacrosse back in action; "A great start to the season'

The XCP lacrosse club team was quite competitive in its first round of games over the weekend and on Monday (Feb. 23).
The Gators fared well in the Southwest Roundup tournament in Avondale. The varsity went 1-1-2, and the two junior-varsity teams each won at least one match, according to varsity coach Caitlin Bebout.
“The JV effort was great, considering it was many of the athletes’ first lacrosse game,’’ Bebout said.
On Monday night, the varsity played at Phoenix Pinnacle and the Gators won 18-17 in overtime.
The JV Blue played on Monday and tied 9-9. The JV White played Tuesday (Feb.24) and won 10-7. Both JV games were against Pinnacle.
“It is a great start to the season so far,’’ Bebout said.
The Gators will remain busy this week. They face Phoenix Mountain Pointe at Pecos Park in Ahwatukee on Wednesday (Feb. 25) and travel to face Scottsdale Chaparral on Thursday (Feb. 26). Both games start at 6:30 p.m.
