A number of Xavier track athletes had respectable finishes
in the 75th Chandler Rotary Invitational on Saturday (March 21) at
Chandler High School.
The Xavier athletes competed in the Elite Division.
Junior Tessa Weiss was 16th in the 800-meter run
at 2:24.07. Senior Lauren Kinzle was 26th in the same event at
2:26.65.
Weiss was 20th in the 1,600-meter run at 5:10.68
and junior Shannan Higgins was 21st at 5:11.86. Weiss was listed 20th
in the mile at 5:12.30 and Higgins 21st at 5:13.72.
Junior Jane Miller was ninth in the 3,200-meter run at
11:11.57. Senior Shannon Molvin was 11th at 11:16.17, senior Sierra
Brown was 13th at 11:19.08 and sophomore Sarah Carter was 19th
at 11:34.54.
Xavier was 13th in the 4x100-meter relay at 51.05.
Senior Jenna Fitzgerald was 11th in the pole
vault at a height of 10 feet. In the long jump, junior Teresa Roessler was 15th
at 15-1 and junior Cydeni Carter was 23rd at 14-4.
The Gators will be back at Chandler High for a dual meet on
Wednesday (March 25) at 3:30 p.m. and will host the Fr. “Dutch’’ Oliver Invitational
for sophomores at 2 p.m. on Friday (March 27) at the Brophy Sports facility.
