Tessa Weiss led a group of Xavier runners in the 1,600-meter
run, finishing first in a preliminary race to qualify for Saturday’s (April 11)
finals in the annual Sun Angel Classic track and field event at Arizona State.
Weiss won the prelim with a time of 5:09.36. Other XCP
runners qualifying for the finals were Sarah Carter (fourth at 5:14.98), Lauren
Kinzle (10th at 5:24.91), Jane Miller (11th at 5:25.18)
and Caroline Liddy (12th at 5:25.24).
Kinzle also earned a spot in the finals of the 800-meter run
with a 10th-place prelim finish at 2:27.06.
In the finals of the 3,200-meter run, Miller finished second
at 11:23.33, Weiss finished third at 11:28.09 and Liddy finished sixth at
11:42.83.
Xavier’s Jenna Fitzgerald finished third in the pole vault
at 10 feet, 6 inches.
