Record-tying start bolsters ex-XCP golfer Woods

Former Xavier golf star Cheyenne Woods had a big day in Thursday’s (June 4) opening round of the Manulife LPGA Classic in Cambridge, Ontario.
Woods, who won Arizona’s big-school individual title for the Gators in 2006 and 2007 and later went on to Wake Forest, matched the course record with two other players, a nine-under-par 63.
The 24-year-old Woods, who won the Ladies European Tour’s Australian Ladies Masters last year, had an eagle, eight birdies and a bogey on Thursday. She is the niece of PGA star Tiger Woods.
