XCP's Martin NHSCA National Coach of the Year

There are honors and there are really big honors like the one announced by the National High School Coaches Association on Monday (June 1).
The group named long-time Xavier College Prep coach Laurie Martin as its national Girls Tennis Coach of the Year.
Martin led the Gators to their fourth straight Division I team title in Arizona with a recent victory over Mesa Mountain View. Xavier’s top player was three-time Division I state champion Madison Clarke.
Martin also earned notoriety with the NHSCA and Coach of the Year designations in other organizations with her “no-cut’’ policy. It begins each fall with the freshmen and continues through the junior-varsity and varsity levels. That gives everybody a chance to learn the game and gain hands-on experience.
Congratulations, Coach Martin! Well deserved!
