Swimmers, divers 4th in XCP-BCP invite

Led by senior co-captain Allie Worrall, the Xavier Prep swimming and diving team finished fourth in Saturday’s (Oct. 3) Brophy-Xavier Invitational at the Brophy Pool.

Worrall finished second in the 100-yard freestyle, third in the 50-yard freestyle, swam the anchor leg of Xavier’s third-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay, and swam the first leg of the Gators’ fourth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Worrall’s times were 52.95 in the 100 and 24.76 in the 50. Xavier’s relay times were 1:53.75 in the 200 medley and 1:43.32 in the 200 free.

Swimming in the 200 medley with Worrall were sophomore Kaitlyn McCoy, junior Jocelyn Jones and senior Madeline Rapp. The 200 free swimmers were sophomore Mary Roediger, junior Quinn Blake and Jones.

Other Xavier finishes:

200-yard freestyle – Rapp 13^th (2:04.18), freshman Maggie Hull 20^th (2:12.39), freshman Helena Valenzuela 21^st (2:12.58) and sophomore Megan Brown 34^th (2:22.05).

200-yard individual medley – McCoy 9^th (2:17.05), senior Jennifer Keenan 11^th (2:18.00), Jones 14^th (2:22.05) and sophomore Taylor Guthrie 24^th (2:27.54).

50-yard freestyle – Worrall 3^rd (24.76), Blake 11^th (26.03), Roediger 12^th (26.15) and freshman Izzy Gomez tied for 13^th (26.29).

100-yard butterfly – Rapp 10^th (1:01.50), sophomore Kate Hubbard (1:05.44) and Guthrie 23^rd (1:06.22).

100-yard freestyle – Worrall 2^nd (52.95), freshman Clare Carlson 21^st (58.48), junior Maddie Campbell 50^th (1:04.13) and freshman Nina LaFave 69^th (1:09.14).

500-yard freestyle – Hull 18^th (5:55.37).

100-yard backstroke – Keenan 11^th (1:05.12), Hubbard 14^th (1:06.95), Blake 15^th (1:07.13) and sophomore Nicole Johnson 25^th (1:09.37).

100-yard breaststroke – Roediger 9^th (1:12.07), Jones 11^th (1:12.27) and sophomore Kyle Gunzy 21^st (1:16.57.

400-yard freestyle relay – Xavier 7^th with a time of 3:51.23. Swimmers were Keenan, Gomez, Carlson and Rapp.

1-meter diving – freshman Alyssa Largay 7^th (330.85 points) and senior Elizabeth Decker 9^th (329.85).

Team results – Scottsdale Chaparral, Phoenix Pinnacle, Mesa Mountain View, Xavier, Tucson Rincon, Tempe Corona del Sol, Scottsdale Desert Mountain, Scottsdale Notre Dame Prep, Chandler Basha, Gilbert Campo Verde, Phoenix Sunnyslope, Phoenix Mountain Pointe, Gilbert, Mesa Desert Ridge, Surprise Willow Canyon, Gilbert Perry, Peoria Centennial, Gilbert Mesquite, Cave Creek Cactus Shadows, Gilbert Arete Prep, Glendale Ironwood, Surprise Valley Vista and Phoenix Country Day School.

Xavier’s next dual meet is Thursday (Oct. 8) at Mountain View.
