Senior Allie Worrall won the 100-yard freestyle (51.79
seconds), helping Xavier Prep to a fourth-place finish in the Division I state
swimming and diving meet on Saturday (Nov. 7) at the Skyline Aquatic Center in
Mesa.
Xavier scored 204 points, trailing winner Scottsdale
Chaparral (359), No. 2 Phoenix Desert Vista (234) and No. 3 Phoenix Pinnacle
(219.50).
Worrall also finished second in the 50-yard freestyle at
23.85, and senior Elise Roediger finished fifth at 24.04.
The Gators’ 200-yard medley relay team was second behind
Chaparral with a time of 1:46.64. Swimmers in that event were sophomore Kaitlyn
McCoy, junior Jocelyn Jones, Roediger and Worrall.
Roediger finished second in the 100-yard butterfly with a
time of 55.55. Senior Madeline Rapp was 12th overall at 58.79.
Senior Alice Hick was 15th in the 200-yard
freestyle. Hick also was 12th in the 100 free at 54.21, and senior
Lisbet Maldonado was 16th at 54.82.
Xavier’s 200-yard freestyle relay team was fourth at
1:38.99. The group of four were Roediger, junior Quinn Blake, Hick and Jones.
McCoy finished fourth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time
of 57.27, and was ninth in the 200-yard individual medley at 2:06.43.
Sophomore Mary Roediger was 14th in the 100-yard
breaststroke at 1:09.94.
XCP was fifth in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The swimmers
were McCoy, Hick, Rapp and Worrall.
The Xavier divers also had a respectable showing. Senior
Elizabeth Decker was 13th with 336.50 points. Freshman Alyssa Largay
was 21st at 146.50, and freshman Talle Donley was 32nd at
122.70.
