XCP runners shine in rainy Nike Nationals

Wouldn’t you like to be No. 21 out of 25,000 high schools in the nation?
Well, Xavier Prep’s Gators have accomplished just that.
Coach Dave Van Sickle’s cross-country team endured the rain, cold and mud to finish 21st in the Nike Cross Country Nationals on Saturday (Dec. 5) in Portland, Ore.
The XCP runners participated in four days of activities associated with the event.
XCP runners were seniors Jane Miller, Tessa Weiss and Shannan Higgins, junior Sarah Carter, sophomores Caroline Liddy and Caroline McClelland and freshman Helen Innes.
Van Sickle said he and his runners also received a nice surprise then they learned that Xavier graduate Sarah Musgrove (Class of 2005) was the event’s executive producer. He added that Musgrove was thrilled to learn that her alma mater was competing.
Congratulations to all for another job well done !!
