It’s back to work this week for the basketball and soccer teams at Xavier Prep.
The basketball team is coming off an appearance in the Nike Tournament in the days leading up to Christmas.
The Gators won one of four in the tournament and have a 9-4 overall record entering Monday night’s (Jan. 4) game against Anthem Boulder Creek at the Talking Stick Resort Arena in downtown Phoenix. It has a 6:15 p.m. tipoff and is listed as a home game for Boulder Creek.
The hoops crew has two more games this week – on Wednesday (Jan. 6) at Surprise Valley Vista and Friday (Jan. 8) at Phoenix Horizon.
The soccer team will have two games this week after finishing a solid fourth in the prestigious Excalibur Tournament of Champions in Irvine, Calif., in the week leading up to New Year’s.
Xavier won its first three games of the tournament before losing two on the final day, both on penalty kicks.
The soccer team returns to action on Tuesday (Jan. 5) with a home game at Petznick Field against Phoenix Pinnacle.
After that, the Gators will go on the road with a game on Friday at Goodyear Millennium.
