Xavier Prep’s soccer team hopes to use a big 3-0 road win
over Scottsdale Chaparral on Friday night (Jan. 22) as a stepping stone to a
strong finish in the upcoming final week of the regular season.
The Gators scored all of their goals in the second half and
raised their record to 12-3, remaining as the No. 1 team in the Arizona
Interscholastic Association’s power points category. Phoenix Desert Vista,
which defeated Xavier 1-0 earlier in the week, is No. 2.
Sophomore Nicole Hook scored the first XCP goal, followed by
scores from sophomore Abby Hubbard and junior Madie Amavilah. Freshman Sadie
Wintergalen provided a pair of assists, and sophomore goalkeeper Kinsey Ehmann
came up with another shutout.
Xavier has its final two games of the regular season this
week, at home on Monday (Jan. 25) against Phoenix Sandra Day O’Connor and a
road contest on Wednesday (Jan. 27) at Anthem Boulder Creek.
