Gators rated No. 4 in preseason softball

Xavier Prep’s softball team is expected to be one of the top contenders for the Division I state championship this season, and that is reflected by the Gators’ placement in the No. 4 spot in’s preseason Super 10.
The Gators trail top-ranked Phoenix Sandra Day O’Connor, the defending champion, No. 2 and state runner-up Glendale Mountain Ridge, and No. 3 Chandler Hamilton.
In addition to the team honor, XCP senior Becky Ducar was listed in the preseason All-Arizona team as an outfielder, although she is expected to see a lot of time at shortstop.
Xavier opens play on Thursday (Feb. 25) in the Sunrise Mountain Invitational at Pioneer Park. The Gators face Surprise Shadow Ridge at 3 p.m., then play two games on Friday (Feb. 26) against Peoria Centennial at 1 p.m. and Glendale Raymond S.
