Gators survive rallies, win in eighth inning

Xavier Prep’s softball team survived a pair of late rallies by host Chandler Basha on Tuesday (March 1) with a rally of its own, scoring four times in the top of the eighth for a 13-9 victory over the Bears.
Xavier picked up three runs in the first inning and three more in the seventh, but Basha got four runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh to force extra innings.
Xavier’s record is now 6-1, and the Gators open up the home part of their season with a game against Anthem Boulder Creek on Thursday (March 3). The Petznick Field press box will be dedicated in honor of Sr. Nancy Perlick, former XCP athletics administrator who died in December.
