Senior Tessa Weiss climbed to the top of the awards stand twice during the recent Division I state track and field meet, signifying her victories in the 1,600- and 3,200-meter running events.
Weiss’ efforts were the highlight of the Xavier Prep contingent at the meet, which began Wednesday (May 4) and wrapped up on Saturday (May 7) at Mesa Community College.
Xavier finished seventh in the team standings with 28 points and was just two points shy of finishing fifth.
Weiss won the 1,600 in a time of 4:51.78, about three seconds ahead of the second-place finisher, Chandler High freshman Morgan Foster.
