He covered high school sports on several occasions as well as the Arizona Diamondbacks, Arizona Cardinals and Arizona State sports. From 2008-14, he was a staff writer for, the web site of the Arizona Interscholastic Association.

Gator golfers rule 3-way meet, Invitational next

Ashley Menne continued to build on her remarkable freshman year for Xavier Prep, earning medalist honors on Wednesday (Sept. 21) in a three-way match with Phoenix Sandra Day O’Connor and Phoenix St. Mary’s at the Cave Creek Golf Course in north Phoenix.
Xavier took home team honors with a 159. Sandra Day O’Connor had a 197 and St. Mary’s had a 216.
Menne shot a 34, two strokes ahead of Sandra Day O’Connor’s Michelle Nguyen. Rounding out the top seven were Xavier’s Emily Cons (40), Xavier’s Eve Worden (42), Xavier’s Madeline Brown (43), St. Mary’s’  Mercedes Martinez (46) and Xavier’s Holly Otlewski (47).
Xavier will co-host the Xavier-Brophy Invitational on Friday (Sept. 23) and Saturday (Sept. 24) at the Grand Canyon University Golf Course (formerly Maryvale) at 59th Ave. and Indian School in Phoenix.
Other girls teams are Scottsdale Notre Dame Prep, Chandler Seton Catholic, Tucson Salpointe Catholic and Scottsdale Desert Mountain.
There are shotgun starts both days, with the girls teeing off at 1 p.m. on Friday and 7:30 a.m. on Saturday.
