Swim-dive, frosh tennis carry XCP banner

After being delayed by rain and lightning on Thursday (Sept. 22), Xavier Prep’s swimming and diving team gave it a strong effort before falling to host Phoenix Desert Vista 106-87.
Xavier won the 200-yard medley relay to begin the proceedings, and was among the top three finishers in most of the other events, according to XCP coach Maureen Rankin.
Final results were not available due to technical difficulties.
Xavier was set to co-host the Brophy-Xavier Invitational on Friday (Sept. 23) and Saturday (Sept. 24) at the Brophy Pool. Diving was due to be held Friday at 1 p.m., with swimming getting under way on Saturday at 9 a.m.
“Looking forward to this weekend, where we expect to be one of the top teams, if not the top team,’’ Rankin said. “Our girls are set up really well for some fast swimming going into our events in placing positions of top 16 or better.’’

Freshman tennis
One of Xavier’s freshman tennis teams defeated Queen Creek Casteel 6-3 on Wednesday (Sept. 21), but road matches against Scottsdale Desert Mountain and Tempe Marcos de Niza were rained out on Thursday.
XCP will send its two teams into action again on Tuesday (Sept. 27) and Wednesday (Sept. 28), both at home against Chandler Hamilton.
