Swim-dive, volleyball are victorious

Xavier Prep’s swim and dive team made every moment count in its last official dual meet of the season on Thursday (Oct. 6) by defeating Mesa Mountain View 100-86 at Brophy Pool.
Xavier coach Maureen Rankin said the effort put forth by her athletes “certainly sets up for a very positive preview of what will be a great Division I High School State Championships.’’

200-yard medley relay – Second.
200-yard freestyle – Vica Dow 1st.
200-yard individual medley – Katie McCoy 1st.
50-yard freestyle – Olivia Paliscak 2nd.
100-yard butterfly – Olivia Paliscak 1st.
100-yard freestyle – Izzy Gomez 2nd.
500-yard freestyle – Carlie Hermann 1st.
200-yard freestyle relay – Second.
100-yard backstroke – Katie McCoy 1st.
100-yard breaststroke – Kyle Guthrie 2nd.
400-yard freestyle relay – First.
The Gators will be back in action on Oct. 20 at Brophy Pool when Mountain View returns and Phoenix Desert Vista joins in for a relays-only event.

One night after being roughed up by Chandler Hamilton, the XCP volleyball team got back on the winning track with a three-game sweep of host Mesa Desert Ridge on Thursday. Scores were 25-16, 25-12 and 25-11.
After nearly a two-week home absence, the Gators (21-5) will be back at the Activity Center on Tuesday (Oct. 11) to face Phoenix Horizon (18-10).
