Former Gator Lanier still stands tall in volleyball

Did you ever wonder what happened to former Xavier Prep volleyball star Khalia Lanier, who was the Gatorade National Player of the Year and Arizona’s Female Athlete of the Year and won just about every other award in the state during her four years here?
She is alive and doing quite well after having an outstanding collegiate freshman season at USC.
The 6-foot-2 outside hitter was named to the All-Pac 12 Conference Team and was on the conference’s All-Freshman Team. She was the only freshman to rank in the Pac-12 top five individuals in kills and points.
USC finished the season with an 18-14 record, and was eliminated by Hawaii in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Lanier had 26 kills and 13 digs in that game.
She finished with 16 “double-doubles’’ (kills and digs) and had 517 kills, 328 digs, 26 service aces and 38 blocks.
We are looking forward to watching her career continue to evolve with the Trojans.
