DON KETCHUM is a native of Phoenix. He was a sportswriter for The Arizona Republic/The Phoenix Gazette for nearly four decades. He covered high school sports on several occasions as well as the Arizona Diamondbacks, Arizona Cardinals and Arizona State sports. From 2008-14, he was a staff writer for, the web site of the Arizona Interscholastic Association.

Tennis team back on path to success

A week’s layoff did Xavier Prep’s tennis team some good, as the Gators rebounded from a loss to Scottsdale Chaparral with a decisive 9-0 win over host Chandler Hamilton on Tuesday (March 21).
Sophomore Tristanne Dechoux won her singles match, then came back to team up with Emily Even for a doubles victory.
The Gators, now 6-1, return home for a match on Thursday (March 23) against Mesa High. Start time is 3:30 p.m.
