Tennis returns the favor against Desert Vista

Xavier Prep’s tennis team cleared a big hurdle on Tuesday (May 2), defeating a Phoenix Desert Vista team that had defeated the Gators during the regular season, threreby advancing to the Division I semifinals.
XCP, the fifth seed, posted a 5-0 triumph over the No. 4 Thunder. Xavier moves on to the semis on Friday (May 5) at Scottsdale Ranch Park. Start time is noon, and the opponent will be top-seeded Scottsdale Desert Mountain, which defeated No. 8 Tucson Rincon/University on Wednesday (May 3), 5-0.
Xavier (13-3) fell to Desert Mountain during the regular season, and dropped a decision to one of the other semifinal participants, Scottsdale Chaparral. The Gators defeated the other semifinalist, defending state champion Mesa Mountain View, in the season opener.
