Gators sweep in first day of Nike volleyball

It's so far, so good for Xavier Prep's volleyball team in the 2017 Nike Tournament of Champions.

The Gators won all three of their matches in Friday's (Sept. 29) pool play and will play a qualifying match on Saturday (Sept. 30) at 9:30 a.m. at Arizona State's Sun Devil Fitness Center in Tempe.

Xavier will meet Pope John Paull II of Slidell, La., in that contest, which will decide placement in tournament brackets later in the day.

Xavier's scores in Pool G on Friday (matches are best of three):

Def. Sacred Heart (Louisville, Ky.) 25-22, 25-17.

Def. Leon (Tallahassee, Fla.) 25-13, 25-20.

Def. Beckman (Irvine, Calif.) 22-25, 25-14, 15-6.
