Badminton, volleyball teams hanging in there

Xavier Prep’s badminton team won two of three matches this week, while the Gators’ volleyball team rebounded from a tough loss to Gilbert Perry on Wednesday night (Sept. 26) to defeat host Chandler Basha 3-0 on Thursday night (Sept. 27).

The badminton team now has a 6-3 record after defeating Mesa Red Mountain, 8-1 and Chandler Basha, 6-3, and falling against Gilbert Perry, 7-2.

The volleyball team is one victory away from 20 for the season after rolling past Basha, 25-17, 25-14 and 25-23.

Badminton has three more matches next week, on Monday (Oct. 1) at Chandler High, on Wednesday (Oct. 3) at Mesa Skyline and Thursday (Oct. 4) at home against Phoenix Desert Vista.

The volleyball team has one match on Tuesday at Chandler and then will participate in the annual Gilbert Invitational on Friday (Oct. 5) and Saturday (Oct. 6) at Gilbert High.
