Xavier runners have solid effort in Conley Invite

While Xavier Prep’s top runners sat out the race to rest for next weekend’s Desert Twilight Invitationa in Casa Grande, their remaining teammates did a very respectable job while competing in Saturday’s (Sept. 22) annual Doug Conley Invitational at the Shalimar Golf Course in Tempe.

Xavier had five runners in the Girls’ Invitational 5,000-meter race that had 195 entries. The Gators finished as follows:

Josie Venezia 12th (20:19), Sophia Healy 57th (21:52), Johnnie Mitchell 63rd (21:59), Karime Morales 66th (22:08) and Maria Benitez 76th (22:22).

Xavier was not represented in the Girls’ Elite 5,000. The Gators had nine of the 315 runners in the Non-Varsity Girls’ 5,000. They were:

Rishita Shah 58th (23:18), Hannah Wheeling 68th (23:49), MK Fairbanks 77th (24:05), Catherine Devine 81st (24:11), Briony Campisi 95th (24:32), Ellie Higgins 110th (24:55), Erika Germinario 113th (24:57), Eliza Mulkern 178th (26:32) and Lulu Fischer 179th (26:34).
