Big softball score not enough for Gators

The early season scoring spree continued for Xavier Prep’s softball team on Friday (March 1), but a third straight effort of 10 or more runs fell short as the Gators fell to host Mesa Red Mountain 13-11.

Xavier is now 2-1.

The Gators scored three times in the first inning, five in the fifth and three in the seventh after Red Mountain had taken a 13-8 lead. Red Mountain’s bats were hot with 18 hits.

After playing its third game of the week, Xavier will get a bit of a break and return to action on Thursday (March 7) at home against Phoenix Maryvale. First pitch is at 3:45 p.m.
