The freshmen
continue to produce big results for Xavier Prep’s softball team.
Shortstop
Bridget Donahey hit a pair of home runs along with two doubles and five RBIs
and Riley Flynn had another strong pitching performance as the Gators defeated
host Phoenix Desert Vista in Ahwatukee 9-3 on Friday (March 22).
Xavier
raised its record to 7-2 while Desert Vista fell to 5-6.
Donahey’s
power display comes on the heels of another big game in which she recently hit
three homers in a game.
Flynn, who
threw a no-hitter against Chandler Hamilton earlier in the week, gave up six
hits, did not walk a batter and struck out 11. She also had two hits, including
a double, and drove in a run.
Freshman
Elliot Smith drove in two runs with a pair of hits, and sophomore Macy Lee
drove in a run with two hits.
Xavier has
three games next week – on Monday (March 25) at Avondale La Joya, on Tuesday
(March 26) at home against Phoenix Trevor Browne, and on Thursday (March 28) at
Yuma Kofa.
