Menne is Golfer of the Year for third time

Three. Count them, three.

For the third time in as many years, Xavier Prep’s Ashley Menne has been named the Golfer of the Year for Arizona.

The award was presented on Sunday night (June 9) at the media outlet’s Arizona Sports Awards program at Arizona State’s Grady Gammage Auditorium.

This fall, Menne will be a senior and will have a chance to be the state tournament medalist for the fourth time in a row.

After graduating from Xavier in 2020, Menne will move on to study and play golf at ASU.

Menne and fellow golfer Breyana Matthews were chosen as All-Arizona athletes, as well as Xavier's Tristanne Dechoux (tennis), Leilani McIntosh (basketball), beach volleyball (Shannon Shields and Trinity Cavanaugh) and indoor volleyball (Shields).

"Xavier is very proud of all the nominees and congratulates these student-athletes, their coaches and their parents,'' said XCP Athletic Director Sr. Lynn Winsor.
