Softball honor goes to XCP's Bridget Donahey

The media outlet announced its annual All-Arizona Softball Team on Saturday (June 8), and one Xavier Prep player received Honorable Mention recognition.

She is Bridget Donahey, a freshman infielder (shortstop) who had an excellent first varsity season.

She hit .581 with 43 hits, 34 runs scored, 36 RBIs, 13 home runs, 13 doubles and a team-leading five stolen bases. She also found time to pitch two innings for a Xavier team that finished with a 17-5 record. The Gators reached the 6A Conference state tournament, where they lost to Mesa Red Mountain in an elimination game.

Like Donahey, the majority of Xavier’s softball players were underclassmen and project to have an even better team in the spring of 2020 under second-year coach Brad Downes.

Congratulations to Bridget!
