Swimmers, divers finish second in PCDS invite

It was another strong performance by the Xavier Prep swimmers and divers on Friday (Sept. 27) and Saturday (Sept. 28), as the Gators finished second in the annual Eagle Invitational at Phoenix Country Day School.

Xavier earned some victories in the various events. In the 200-yard medley relay, the foursome of sophomore Gracie Munk, junior Pao Guerra, senior Haley Hubbard and senior Vica Dow brought home the win.

Junior Mia Rankin won the 500-yard freestyle and Guerra won the 100-yard breaststroke.

In other events, senior Maddy Sewell finished second in 1-meter diving, junior Jordan Herrera was second in the 200-yard freestyle and third in the 100-yard butterfly, and Rankin was second in the 200-yard individual medley.

Junior Kelly Scott was fourth in the 50-yard freestyle and third in the 100-yard freestyle. Senior Olivia Paliscak was second in the 100-yard butterfly and fifth in the 50-yard freestyle.

Dow was fourth in the 100-yard backstroke and eighth in the 100-yard freestyle. And Guerra finished eighth in the 50-yard freestyle.

Xavier will compete in its final home meet of the year on Thursday (Oct. 3) against Anthem Boulder Creek at the Brophy aquatic complex. All the Gator seniors will be honored at the event.
