Volleyball wins again, ready for home opener

Xavier Prep’s volleyball team ran its record to 12-0 on Thursday night (Sept. 12) with a 3-0 victory over Phoenix Mountain Pointe in Ahwatukee.

Scores were 25-15, 25-23 and 25-17.

Senior outside hitter Bri McKnight led the offensive charge with 18 kills, and sophomore setter Alexa Shiner supplied 31 assists.

The Gators finally will get to play at home on Tuesday night (Sept. 17) with their home opener against Tempe Corona del Sol. Xavier defeated the Aztecs in last year’s championship match, giving the Gators their second straight crown.

Xavier will have a second home match on Wednesday (Sept. 18) against Scottsdale Chaparral before traveling to Las Vegas for the annual Durango Invitational next weekend.
