Xavier/Brophy mountain bikers 6th in first race

The Xavier Prep/Brophy Prep mountain biking team finished sixth out of 19 Division I teams in its first race of the year on Sunday (Sept. 8) at Fort Tuthill County Park in Flagstaff.

Xavier had three riders among the top 20 in the JV1 race, which featured 5.8-mile laps.

They were sophomore Hailey Schwartz (10th, 1:29.48.10), senior Heather Kwapiszeski (11th, 1:29.48.61) and senior Erin Hill (19th, 1:45.02), over the 3-lap race.

Xavier had three finishers in the JV2 race and one in the Freshman race.

The JV2 riders were senior Catherine Wandachowitz (28th, 1:14.09, 2 laps), senior Sam Sandoval (29th, 1:17.10) and sophomore Aria Tseffos (41st, 1:29.11).

And the freshman rider was Chloe Lindeback, (22nd, 1:15.39, 2 laps).

Xavier’s next race will be Sept. 21 at Pioneer Park in Prescott.
