XCP volleyball rolls to sweep of Valley Vista

Xavier Prep’s volleyball team earned its 20th victory of the season on Thursday night (Sept. 26) with a three-game sweep of visiting Surprise Valley Vista at the Activity Center.

Scores were 25-21, 25-14 and 25-16.

Middle blocker Jasmine Knight and fellow senior and outside hitter Bri McKnight came up big for the Gators (20-3), combining for 31 of the team’s 41 kills. Knight had 17, McKnight 14. Valley Vista is 18-5.

Other notable Xavier numbers were the 35 assists by sophomore setter Alexa Shiner, the three service aces by senior libero Abby Converse and two aces by sophomore outside hitter Tiffany Tellez.

Xavier has a busy week coming up. The Gators have three straight matches Tuesday (Oct. 1) through Thursday (Oct. 3), with an appearance in the annual Nike Tournament on Friday (Oct. 4) and Saturday (Oct. 5) at various southeast Valley sites.

The Tuesday match is at Mesa High, Wednesday at always-tough Gilbert Perry and Thursday at home against Chandler Basha.
