XCP/BCP riders in 7th spot with one race to go

The Xavier/Brophy club mountain biking team finished eighth overall in the most recent Arizona Cycling League race on Sunday (Oct. 20).

The fifth race of the six-race season was held at the McDowell Mountain Regional Park in Fountain Hills.

XCP sophomore Hailey Schwartz continued her outstanding season with a fifth-place finish in the JV1 race (2 laps, 5.65 miles per lap) with a time of 57:05:85. Overall, Schwartz sits in third place with one race to go, on Nov. 3 at the White Tank Mountain Regional Park in Waddell.

Other Xavier riders in the JV1 race were senior Heather Kwapiszeski (14th, 1:01:81.83) and senior Erin Hill (19th, 1:10:51.14).

Xavier’s three finishers in the JV2 race (also 2 laps) were sophomore Aria Tseffos (23rd, 1:15:01.58), senior Catherine Wandachowicz (27th, 1:22:01.22) and sophomore Rachel Reyes (1:39:55.73).

And the Gators were represented by two riders in the Freshman race. They were Chloe Lindeback (17th, 1:16:19.01) and Grace Morgan (23rd, 1:22:35.36).

In the overall team standings through five races, Xavier/Brophy is seventh with 14,758 points, just 11 behind No. 6 Anthem Boulder Creek.
