DON KETCHUM is a native of Phoenix. He was a sportswriter for The Arizona Republic/The Phoenix Gazette for nearly four decades. He covered high school sports on several occasions as well as the Arizona Diamondbacks, Arizona Cardinals and Arizona State sports. From 2008-14, he was a staff writer for, the web site of the Arizona Interscholastic Association.

Senior athletes sign, ready for next level

Ten of Xavier Prep’s top senior athletes for the 2019-20 school year signed letters of intent on Wednesday (Nov. 13) to study and continue their athletic careers at schools from across the country.

They were (listed alphabetically):

*Katie Donahey, softball, Yale University (New Haven, Conn.). Field of study: Economics.

*Taylor Killoren, crew, University of San Diego, Pre-Pharmacy.

*Jasmine Knight, volleyball, Virginia Commonwealth University (Richmond, Va.), Interdisciplinary Studies (Forensic Science, Psychology, Criminal Justice).

*Clara Lynch, soccer, Southern Methodist University (Dallas), Business.

*Breyana Matthews, golf, Arizona State University (Tempe), Kinesiology.

*Bri McKnight, volleyball, University of California-Santa Barbara, Film and Media.

*Ashley Menne, golf, Arizona State University (Tempe), Business.

*Mia Olsen, cross country/track, Southern Methodist University (Dallas), Biochemistry.

*Megan Onofrei, soccer, Roanoke College (Salem, Va.), Political Science, History, Psychology.

*Olivia Petrine, crew, San Diego State University, Biology.
