Gators continue to smack the softball around

The metal bats of the Xavier Prep’s softball team are so hot right now that they might melt.

After scoring 18 runs over two games in Thursday’s (Feb. 27) first two rounds of the Sunrise Mountain Invitational at Pioneer Community Park in Peoria, the Gators came back with another double-digit scoring effort in a 13-0 victory over Glendale Mountain Ridge.

XCP moves on to the single-elimination championship bracket on Saturday (Feb. 29). It will face Phoenix Greenway at 10 a.m. A win in that one would put the Gators in the semifinals at noon, likely against Phoenix Pinnacle and the winners of the semis go on to the title game at 2 p.m.

Xavier and Pinnacle held a scrimmage on Feb. 20 at Pinnacle, playing to a 2-2 tie in eight innings.
