Perry proves too tough for XCP volleyball

Xavier Prep won its first three volleyball matches of the season, but when the schedule flipped to this week, the Gators knew they would have a difficult task with two perennially tough teams in the Division VI Premier Region.

Gilbert Perry, last season’s top seed and state runner-up, was first up on Tuesday night (Sept. 29) at Perry. And after a non-region contest at Mesa Skyline on Wednesday night (Sept. 30), Xavier will face region foe Chandler Hamilton at Xavier on Thursday night (Oct. 1).

Perry proved to be too strong to overcome, with a 3-0 sweep of the Gators. Scores were 25-19, 27-25 and 25-20.
