Gators refuse to fade in badminton spotlight

It was a great day on Saturday (Oct. 3) – Xavier girls got a bit of exercise and went home with some items that can be put in a treasure chest for safekeeping and remind them of their excellence in badminton.

Senior Sophie Riviere was the big winner of the day for the Gators. She earned a first-place medal, going unbeaten in the flight of No. 2 players.

Riviere also was a factor in doubles, along with senior Lina Vanderwey. They finished second in the flight of No. 1 teams.

The Gators will have a busy week this week with three matches – on Tuesday (Oct. 6) at Glendale Mountain Ridge, on Wednesday (Oct. 7) at home against Sunnyslope and on Thursday (Oct. 8) at home against Peoria Liberty.
