XCP's Donahey among top national softball players

Bridget Donahey has some unfinished business for the Xavier Prep softball team.

Last season, she was hit with a double whammy with an arm injury in an early season tournament. Shortly thereafter, the Covid-19 virus hit and that KO’d the Gators’ season.

She and her teammates hope 2021 will be much better.

The people at MaxPreps seem to think so.

They have listed Donahey, a junior, as the No. 17 national prospect out of the Top 25 players from the Class of 2022.

Donahey, who has committed to Northwestern, is capable of making an impact at any position, except for maybe pitcher.

Xavier Coach Brad Downes likely will have her plugged in at shortstop, with time in the outfield and behind the plate also possibilities.

As a freshman in 2019, Donahey hit 13 home runs and 13 doubles with a .581 batting average.
