Big bats carry XCP softball past Chaparral

Xavier Prep softball players will take hits any way they can get them.

That would include a bunt, a slow roller down the line, a shot into the outfield gap or maybe a ball that leaves the yard.

The Gators had four of the latter variety on Friday (March 19) with a 10-0 victory in five innings over Scottsdale Chaparral at Petznick Field.

Junior shortstop Bridget Donahey hit a pair of home runs, while senior catcher Macy Lee and junior first baseman Emma Petersen each hit one homer, Petersen finishing with three RBIs and Lee two.

Junior pitcher Riley Flynn had a masterful effort in the circle, giving up no hits while walking three and striking out 13.

Xavier (3-0) will be back in action on Tuesday (March 23) against Chandler Basha at Petznick Field.
