The long tennis regular season comes to a close on Tuesday (April 20) with a home match between Xavier Prep and Gilbert Perry. Xavier (11-2) is ranked No. 3 on the Arizona Interscholastic Association’s Division I power points list and Perry (10-2) is No. 6.
Xavier set
up the finale with a 9-0 win over visiting Chandler High on Monday (April 19) at
the Stark Tennis Center.
Highlight of
the match was the No. 1 doubles team’s 8-2 win. Junior Ryan Kershner and
freshman Dani Dyer teamed up in that one.
Kershner has
been sidelined intermittently during the season with an injury, but she and
coaches are hopeful that her participation on Monday is a good sign heading
into the D-I state team tournament that begins on April 27.
