Track & field is out front in three-way meet

 Xavier Prep’s track and field team had eight individual winners and one victorious relay team on Wednesday (March 31) while piling up an overall victory over Phoenix Mountain Pointe and Phoenix Shadow Mountain in a tri-meet at the Brophy Sports Campus.

Xavier had a winning total of 106 points, followed by Mountain Pointe (32) and Shadow Mountain (26).

Individual winners for XCP were sophomore Madigan Moran in the 200-meter dash, freshman Lordes Lauterborn in the 400-meter dash, junior Catherine Alaimo in the 1,600-meter run, junior Tatum Goforth in the 3,200-meter run, junior Elena Soderstrom in the shot put, senior Jozlin Tanner in the discus, junior Avery Allen in the pole vault and senior Lana Kline in the long jump.

Xavier’s winning relay effort came in the 4x400.

The Gators will participate this week in the prestigious Chandler Rotary Invitational at Chandler High on Friday (April 9) and Saturday (April 10). Xavier also is looking to have a few distance runners compete in the Scottsdale Distance Classic at Scottsdale Saguaro.
