Bigger challenge awaits XCP lacrosse in playoffs

Players on Xavier Prep’s club lacrosse team have their helmets, sticks and knee pads ready to go as the Arizona Girls Lacrosse Association Division 2 playoffs get under way starting on Tuesday (May 4).

The Gators are coming off one of their strongest finishes, winning  six in a row down the stretch before falling to Gilbert Higley 14-10 in the regular-season finale on Friday night (April 30).

That put XCP’s record at 8-6, and sets up a rematch against the Blue team from Phoenix Pinnacle on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The winner would go on to play for the division title on May 7 at Higley. The Pinnacle Blue team defeated Xavier 10-8 on March 22.

Xavier’s scoring list is paced by four prolific underclassmen – sophomores Keilani Hong, Joan Walton and Gigi Riviere and freshman McKenna Boyer.
