Fab Four senior softball players commit to next level

The future is bright for Xavier Prep’s Fab Four.

Four seniors who as junior players helped Xavier win the first state softball championship in the school’s history earlier this year are hoping for a repeat before heading off to play and study at some prestigious four-year colleges.

The players – shortstop Bridget Donahey, pitcher Riley Flynn, outfielder-infielder Emma Petersen and second baseman Meghan Schouten – made verbal commitments to their colleges on Wednesday (Aug. 11), according to the Web site.

Donahey will play at Northwestern University just outside of Chicago, Flynn will play at Harvard, an Ivy League school in Cambridge, Mass., Petersen will play at Siena College in Loudonville, N.Y., and Schouten will play at Boston College.

The last two are Catholic institutions.

Xavier is proud of these young women and is grateful of the examples they set on the field and in the classroom.
