XCP tennis coach Martin earns Pro of the Year Award

Xavier Prep varsity tennis coach Laurie Martin has served up another ace.

Martin, entering her 17th year at XCP, has been chosen to receive the Pro of the Year Award in the U.S. Professional Tennis Association’s Southwest Magazine in its September 2021 edition.

Martin has led the Gators to five state championships and five state runner-up finishes.

She has been a certified USPTA pro for more than 15 years. She also has supported the USPTA and the U.S. Tennis Association with various leadership posts. She created the “Empowering Women’s Series’’ for the Southwest USPTA Women Coaches with the Speaker, Dr. Shawn Foltz Emmons.

Perhaps her most noteworthy accomplishment has been running no-cut programs for the varsity and freshman programs. She currently is guiding the varsity only.

As usual, great job, Laurie! Gator Nation is very proud of what you do!!
