Five beach volleyball matches for Xavier Prep, five wins.
It doesn’t
get much better than that.
Coach Tim
McHale played mix and match with some of his pairs at Mesa Westwood on
Wednesday (March 16), just to see how they worked together, and the result was
the same. That’s what usually happens when you are the top program in the
state.
The Gators
ran their record to 5-0.
McHale put
Katie Anthony in the No. 1 pairing with fellow senior Landree Coats, and they
did not allow their opponent to score in double figures with 21-8, 21-6 wins.
Coats’ usual
partner, junior Summer McCann, was paired with senior Emma Soderstrom for a
21-5, 21-8 win at No. 4.
Junior
Noelle Peterson and sophomore Trinity Tran looked strong at the No. 2 spot with
a 21-13, 21-6 triumph.
At No. 3,
senior Tiffany Tellez and junior Mei Tsou produced a 21-8, 21-11 over Westwood.
In the No. 5
spot, junior Lauren Vanderwey and senior Alexa Shiner had the upper hand with a
21-2, 21-5 win.
The Gators
return to action on Monday (March 21) when they play host to Phoenix Desert
Vista at Petznick Field. Start time is 4 p.m.
