The Arizona Interscholastic Cycling League is billing its upcoming 10th season this fall as “Season X.’’
And nowhere
does that seem to apply more than right here at Xavier Prep, where mountain biking continues to grow by the year.
The program
held an event at XCP’s Lutfy Hall on Wednesday (March 23) to try to figure out how many students might
be interested in signing up to participate.
Xavier-Brophy
head coach Rich Perrott said that 45 students were in attendance and that 22
girls professed a desire to take the next steps, such as obtaining the team’s
schedule of events.
Two new
Xavier coaches were introduced, Kate Hill and Monica Millum.
Prospective
team members got to meet and hear words of encouragement from Chloe Woodruff,
who is a National Champion, a World Cup winner and Olympian who attended the
University of Arizona and now is based out of Prescott.
Perrott was
pleased by the enthusiastic atmosphere and looks forward to another season.
“The league
is calling it “Season X’ and we are embracing Season X as the “Season of
Xavier,’ ’’ Perrott said.
